About

Mission Statement:

MCAR is committed to providing excellent resources for the professional development & success of our members.

Statement of Purpose:

The Mid-Columbia Association of REALTORS® was established in 1947, originally as The Dalles Board of REALTORS®, to organize and professionalize the local real estate industry. The territory expanded in later years to include Hood River, Wasco, and Sherman Counties.  In the year 2000, the Mid-Columbia Association of REALTORS® also took in Klickitat and Skamania Counties to become one of a few bi-state boards in the country.

Mid-Columbia Association of REALTORS® serves our membership, property owners, and community by developing and promoting programs and services to enhance our members’ freedom and ability to conduct their business successfully with integrity and respect through effective advocacy. We promote and protect private property rights.

Membership in MCAR requires membership in:

  • The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR),
  • either The Washington REALTORS® Association (WR) or
  • The Oregon Association of REALTORS® (OAR),
  • And the local board:  The Mid-Columbia Association of REALTORS® (MCAR)

MCAR members have gone beyond licensing by ascribing to the National Association of REALTORS® Code of Ethics.   A Code of Ethics class is required for new members.  In addition, members are required to take a Code of Ethics course every triennial (every three years).   It is provided free online at the National Association of REALTORS® COE training site or can be purchased as a continuing education class there as well.
